I-Matter is an integrative outpatient mental health center established to restore and equip individuals and families impacted by mental health issues, with the tools necessary to live cohesively, interact as a functioning unit, and thrive with resiliency together. We also champion thriving communities as a key driver in the stability of mental wellness. We are intentional about service to others and committed to partnerships that lessen the impact of mental illness on individuals, families, communities, and worldwide.

Our Executive Team

Alysia Barber, CRNP, PMHNP-BC
CEO/Medical Director
Alysia has a master’s degree in Nursing Administration and Leadership and her advance degree in Psychiatric Mental Health. As a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, she serves as our Medical Director and CEO. She has 18 years’ experience as a registered nurse, in specialties to include emergency behavioral health crisis intervention, pediatric emergency care, neonatal care, critical care, and vascular access. She is a clinical nursing instructor, and has been nurse of the year, an innovation award recipient, as well as a change agent in leadership. Alysia is the pressure that challenges I-Matter to be the Trademark of Mental Health.

Angela Barber, LCSW-C
Chief Operating Officer/Lead Therapist
Angela has a master’s degree in social work. She has over 30 years' experience working with children and families that have been impacted by mental health challenges. She was a foster parent for several years and she worked closely with the Department of Social Services to reunite families. She was founder of a transitional youth home for at risk youth, called Finding Direction. She has worked in the community providing crisis support with the Baltimore Children and Adolescent Response System and completed mental health evaluations for incarcerated populations. Angela brings know-how and practical solutions to the crisis of the broken family and a wide lens view of the struggles that transitional youth face. She is the secret sauce of I-Matter.

Cecelia Carroll, LCSW-C
Clinical Director
Mrs. Carroll has a master’s degree in social work. She has over 40 years of experience in mental health services. She has served others as a mentor, therapist, foster parent, and veteran of the Armed Forces. She was the executive director for various organizations, and since 1985 she has been the president/CEO of her private practice. Mrs. Carroll brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, including the overseeing of program development, implementing policy and procedures, and grant writing that push businesses forward. She keeps I-Matter grounded in service to others.

Office Manager
Brian
Brian is an Office Manager with more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare setting. He's recently transitioned from dental health into the mental health field here at I-Matter. His passion lies in supporting efficient operations and helping teams work together to deliver quality care. Brian takes pride in keeping things running smoothly while creating a welcoming environment for staff and clients alike. Outside the office, he enjoys traveling, participating in Caribbean festivals (playing mas), spending quality time with his family and friends and a good game of Spades.

Miles
Miles brings extensive experience in youth engagement, program operations, and community partnership to his work with I-Matter. A Baltimore native and proud product of Baltimore City Public Schools, he is passionate about supporting young people from communities like his own and helping families access the resources they need to thrive. In his professional career, Miles leads regional education-focused initiatives serving students and families across multiple states. He also serves on the board of Redirecting Our Culture, where he supports efforts to help families impacted by violence heal and rebuild.

Dr. Santa
A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program, Santa is currently participating in I-Matter’s Psychiatric Nursing Fellowship pilot program while awaiting licensure. She is passionate about supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges with compassion, dignity, and culturally responsive care. Through her fellowship experience, she is continuing to strengthen her clinical skills while contributing to I-Matter’s mission of helping families heal, grow, and thrive.

Adiat, LCSW-C
Adiat holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and brings a client-centered, strength-based approach to her role as a mental health therapist. She has experience across school, community, and outpatient settings, offering both individual and group therapy. Adiat supports clients navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, relational issues, and daily stressors, and is committed to creating a safe, stigma-free space for healing and growth.

Tony, LGPC
Tony is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) with a strong background in counseling, case management, and community-based mental health services. He has experience supporting individuals across outpatient and community settings and works effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Fluent in multiple languages, Tony builds meaningful connections and provides culturally responsive, inclusive care.
Tony takes a compassionate, client-centered approach, creating a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore challenges, build insight, and develop practical coping strategies. He works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship stressors. Using structured, practical strategies, Tony helps clients increase emotional awareness, improve daily functioning, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

Caleb is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran with five years of service, holding a B.S. in Psychology and currently pursuing an M.S. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Baltimore. With two years of experience working with children, he brings structure, empathy, and dedication to youth mental health.

Monice is a dedicated nursing student with over 25 years of experience across medical and customer service roles. Known for her eagerness to learn and generous spirit, she readily shares her knowledge and connects others with trusted community resources. Monice’s reliability and willingness to step in wherever needed make her an invaluable part of the team and a true advocate for client care. Upon completing her degree, she plans to pursue a career in hospice care—where her compassion and presence will continue to leave a lasting impact.

Barney is our beloved office mascot and unofficial therapy companion, known for bringing joy and comfort to both clients and staff. While not a certified therapy dog, his gentle and playful presence helps create a welcoming environment where individuals can feel more at ease. Many clients enjoy interacting with Barney, and he has become a special part of the I-Matter experience.
